Blue skies and pleasant playing conditions, mitigated only by a strong breeze, once again welcomed the Pilgrims back to Sherborne on OS Day for their annual fixture against the School’s 1st VI. This year’s team was very similar to that fielded in 2024, with a single change: Nick Lamb (d, 94) subbing in. The rest of the team consisted of Henry Field (c, 16), Seb Fender (c, 16), Benjamin Liebenberg (a, 18), David Crosthwaite-Eyre (d, 96), and Justin Thomson-Glover (e, 85). Despite some excellent shot-making on behalf of the boys, in the end experience proved too strong for youthful vitality, with the Pilgrims prevailing 7-2, thereby extending their winning streak in this fixture, which dates back to 2018. OS Day remains a highlight of the tennis Pilgrims calendar, and wonderfully brings together all those who have sustained – and continue to sustain – tennis at the School. Their contributions are worth celebrating.James Sewry
