Lost by 54 runs.

The School 250 ( J Vitali 2-35); Pilgrims 198 (O J H Palmer 40). Lost by 52 runs

As is so often the case when we play the School, the match was a tale of what might have been. With tight bowling, especially from Cricketer Cup Captain James Vitali and excellent fielding the Pilgrims had the School 117 for 5 and were looking in a good position to restrict them to a very gettable total. Unfortunately, following a long and indulgent lunch we took our foot off the proverbial gas, only bowling out the opposition in the penultimate over and allowing them to reach a competitive total of 250.

Having thrown away a very strong position we were determined to make a good start with the bat. Alas our response did not begin well with the loss of our top four within the first 12 overs, leaving us 50-4. Ollie Palmer (40) and Charlie Cooke (36) fought back well and at 130-4 we were very much in the game again. Unfortunately the loss of these two set batsmen shifted things back in the favour of the School. We made our way to 198 before being bowled out, frustratingly the sort of total we would have been chasing had we bowled the School out in normal time with them once at 117-5.
