Canford Cygnets 300-6 dec; Pilgrims 183.Lost by 117 runs.

As the Canford fixture is the last day of ‘The Week’, we arrived feeling a little fragile especially a windy journey there. Losing the toss and being forced into the field, we were quickly pounced on by a fairly tidy opener who turned out to play for a Division 1 side. With the field back, Humprey Gibbs (feeling fresher than most) and Alistair Pusinelli stemmed the flow, until finally their class batsman was caught on the boundary for 132. We continued to pick up wickets along the way, with 2 apiece for the Gibbs brothers and 1 for Nurton and Lawrence. However 300 to chase on the final day of ‘The Week’ A stiff challenge indeed for the assembled troops.

Unfortunately we lost Ferg Taylor in the first over followed by Reynolds and Smibert in the 4th. If it wasn’t for J.Lawrence taking it to the Canford bowlers, we could have been in real trouble. A fine 75 from him before being bowled. The middle order didn’t fair to well either S.Walsh top scoring at number 10 for 25. A good cameo from Nurton and Pusinelli saw us to 183 all out. An enjoyable if unfruitful last day of ‘The Week’.
