Lost by 26 runs.
The School 166. Pilgrims 140.
Once again captain F Taylor lost the toss and we were, unsurprisingly, put into bat. However, undeterred by this setback we applied ourselves very well in the field and with the ball bowling the School out for a modest 166. Humphrey Gibbs and James Vitali bowled particularly well with figures of 3 for 20 and 2 for 10 respectively.
In good batting conditions this modest target was very attainable in the allocated 40 overs and, indeed, we looked to have secured their first victory over the School in a number of years following a great start to the innings courtesy of a quick fire 60 off 42 balls from opening batsman F Taylor. However, with the rest of the batsman compiling just 55 runs between them the Pilgrims were bowled out for 140 falling 26 runs short of a total they should have reached. The Pilgrims will need to be a lot more competent with the bat next year if they are to avoid a similar outcome.
